Argentina: 3 – Egypt: 2 – The Champions Survive, The Pharaohs Fall with Honor

Argentina entered the Round of 16 expecting a test. What they received from Egypt was a warning. In a match filled with tension, belief, fear, and late magic, the defending champions survived a two-goal deficit to beat Egypt 3–2 and keep their 2026 FIFA World Cup dream alive.

For Egypt, the loss was painful, but their performance deserves respect. They pushed the defending world champions to the edge and played with courage, structure, and belief. Mohamed Salah and his teammates may be leaving the tournament, but they leave with pride. Egypt proved they belonged on this stage.

This match had everything a World Cup knockout game should have: danger, emotion, star power, heartbreak, and a finish no one will forget. Argentina advanced, but Egypt earned admiration. The champions survived, but only just…
