La voix d’un peuple sans frontières

Mark Krikorian: “Haiti is so screwed up, because it wasn’t colonized enough”

Key factors contributing to Haiti’s situation include:

Intense Colonial Exploitation:

The French transformed the nation into a colony based on intensive slave labor, destroying the indigenous population and exhausting environmental resources.

The Independence Debt:

Upon gaining independence in 1804, France forced Haiti to pay a massive indemnity for lost property (including slaves). This debt, paid over more than a century, crippled economic development.

Geopolitical Isolation:

After its revolution, Haiti was diplomatically and economically isolated by Western powers, hindering its ability to trade and grow.
